Daiso Hacks #1

Author’s note: This post was deleted by WordPress because of a bad internet connection at the time of posting and bad coding on the WordPress Android app. Normally I’d ragequitted and ignored this post, but NO! I am going to survive and pen down my thoughts because I want to keep this blogging habit going and remember how I spent my youth 10 years later! Springtime of youth~~~

I love Daiso. My (sometimes unhealthily) thrifty nature means that Daiso is like Black Friday, but on every day. Granted, their products might not be the of the highest quality, but Daiso stuff attracts me perhaps due to it’s Japanese-origin construction and the fact that you can literally find anything in the departmental store.

Visited Daiso Vivocity today and u thought I’d share some random things I bought:

Face Towels

Context: I’m a hyper-perspirating dancer who looks like I just ran 25km 5 minutes into dance practice.
Hack: These towels are perfect for me to not look like the above during high intensity activities. The designs may not be as glam as you want it to be but there’s various colors for you to match your dance OOTD.

Update: I think these towels don’t absorb sweat very well, and the black one I bought has issues with dropping fur. Might want to grab towels from Cold Storage instead, costs about S$2.50-S$3 and works much better.

Organizers for Small Things

Context: As an avid board game player, I often find the need to effectively sort out the various mini sized tokens that come with games like 7 Wonders.
Hack: These containers have many compartments for your mini things’ needs. They also come in various sizes, but do measure any uncommonly sized tokens you have before purchasing. For example, here’s my 7 Wonders organizer:

Mobile Phone Holder.. in the toilet

Context: I like to bring my phone into the toilet to kill time, but need a cleaner place to put it when I, uh, need my hands.
Hack: I couldn’t find a smaller container so this will have to do. I guess it fits tablets too!

Brunch @ Nassim Hill

I think I’ll let the pictures do the talking 😁

The place is pretty well decorated and feels quaint 🙂
It appears to be a bar as well, with happy hours from 8am (!!) to 8pm.
Jason with his Hearty Scrambled Eggs. $20.
And my Spicy Huevos Benedict (eggs benedict with a touch of spice!). $20

The Eggs Benedict were delicious and the chili padis really added a fresh dimension to the taste 🙂 Jason and I both loved the salad dressing as well!

The Spicy Huevos Benedict also came with a bunch of bread as well, so much that I couldn't finish! Of note is this cinnamon roll in the bread basket that they baked to have a bread-like texture. Mmm.

Damage: $42.80 / 2 = $21.40 (No service charge!)
(Thanks to my best friend Luke who managed to snap me a 50% discount weeee. Check his blog out!)
Quality: Great tasting. (To be expected at this price)
Quantity: Quite a lot for breakfast. You won’t leave hungry.

Inner Peace

What was supposed to be an uneventful weekend turned out to be really enriching for me.

Saturday — I had to go back to the office to settle some work things, damn work shit. But getting some work done in the weekend earns you some sense of achievement, I guess? What I know is that I’m reducing the workload I’ll have next week, which is good. Haha!

Spent the rest of the day catching Interstellar. It’s a good show, and it kept me on the edge of my seat for almost the full three hours. Aside from the unexplained “fantasy” parts and some physical inconsistencies, the film does a good job of using modern physics to deliver a thrilling experience. 🙂 There’s quite a bit of information overload though, which may not suit everyone. This movie probably gave me some reassurance that I didn’t take PC1143 (Modern Physics module in my university) for nothing. Haha! I’ll give it 8/10!

Spent the Sunday morning catching a new (and sadly, cancelled) series – Manhattan Love Story 😀

Manhattan Love Story

I honestly don’t get why the series was cancelled – the characters are really endearing (quoted from @racheww) and the jokes and thought conversations they have with themselves really felt right at home. I laughed a lot through watching the few episodes and I seldom get that. Now I just wish there was some way to revive ’em 😦

Spent the afternoon working out on a new mandarin cover with @evonlotion (check out her YouTube channel if you haven’t), and am really excited about it. Do look out for it (on her channel)! 😀

Went for Vernon’s Hip Hop class held at Eusoff Dance studio for the night. Honestly I felt that I deproved recently, but I’m glad I still held on to some of my hip hop basics and was really happy to learn the techniques tonight. Been feeling a little down over my dance standard recently but tonight was what I needed to continue pushing myself harder. But one thing I do understand is that with a full time job, it’s gonna be hard to push myself to improve fast; what matters is that there’s always some improvement to spark myself forward.

I don’t even know why I’m blogging tonight. But I guess it lets the thoughts out from me and allows me to (hopefully) find inner peace. Now for my good 8 hours of sleep!
