NOOK HD+

IT HAS ARRIVED! (Last Friday – sorry I’ve been real busy!)

Together with cases, screen protectors, and my brother's items

Before anything, I must commend HopShopGo’s express shipping service – I placed the order on Tuesday afternoon and the package arrived on Friday morning right at my doorstep. Are they fast or what! The 5USD for express shipping was definitely worth it. (May vary by package size.)

Anyway, back to the star of the post – my new Nook HD+!

There's a hinged design that elevates the container inside when the box is opened. Great eye candy ^^

The packaging itself is very simple – just the tablet, the charging/data cable and the power adapter. Speaking of which, Barnes & Noble chose to use a proprietary port (copy Apple) instead of the microUSB standard – a clearly bad call.

B&N's typography is impressive, really loving the pleasant look of the tutorial sheet. (Not like I need it.. haha)

And the supporting cast – Poetic Slimline cover case and 3 sets of screen protectors!

Digging the green :D

The above two items can be found on eBay for a cheap price.

Setting up..

As you can see, the 9-inch Nook HD+ is slightly smaller than the 10-inch Motorola Xoom and the iPad 3.

Usage wise.. the screen is crazily good. Trust me on this – you won’t want to ‘downgrade’ yourself back to a less than full HD screen after you’ve used one. Text is sharp and clear, and images are pretty with good contrast. I’m having lots and lots of fun watching HD Sherlock on it during my not-so-boring-anymore train rides. (And if you haven’t caught Sherlock (the BBC TV series), watch it! It’s really good.)

However, the Nook HD+’s interface is really slow and not as responsive as, say, the iPad. I’ll probably hack and install CyanogenMod on it soon πŸ˜‰
