Dubai Adventures: Day 2

Due to the nature of the attraction, my friends and I were unable to take photos most of the time. I’ve sadly resorted to using others’ photos (with proper credits of course!)

We decided to sleep in for the first day, as most of us were still recovering from jetlag. It was a well-needed sleep, and we had instant noodles and cookies for breakfast!

Instant noodles here are dirt cheap. 10 packs of Indomie Mee Goreng for AED 10 (≈ S$3.5)!

Really nice cookies from La Cure Gourmande in Dubai Mall. It’s a little expensive though, AED 15.50/100g (≈ S$6).

Our main destination of the day – Atlantis the Palm! It’s a resort with a water theme park, and it contains Dolphin Bay, a dolphin conservation center where we can interact with Dolphins! And of course we went for it~

Quick trivia: Atlantis The Palm is built on Palm Jumeirah, an artificial island that is built in the shape of a palm tree. Google the island! Photo credits: tripadvisor

We were informed that the Dolphins were trained under operant conditioning, on a rewards-based system. Psychology much? 😀

Crepe for lunch! Didn’t wanna eat too much to prepare for the water attractions ahead.

Nutella Crepe with walnut! I was in heaven.

And then it was the main water park itself! The water park is huge – it has seven water slides connected to a Ziggurat tower, including an upstream one (yes, the artificial current is so strong that it pushes you upward), an exciting float slide that lands you in an area surrounded by a shark pool, and my personal favourite – a vertical water slide that is 60 feet tall!

The lazy river there is 2.3km long, complete with mini rapids along the course of the river to let you and your friends have some excitement while.. lazing along the attraction. Lol!

We spent a loooooong 5 hours in the park, and it was definitely worth it 🙂

We travelled to Dubai Marina at night to find food, and I must say, Dubai Marina is like the Clarke Quay of Dubai – pretty buildings with lots of restaurants, beside a river, occasional boats, and has the certain atmosphere that makes you feel high class just by being there. Lol!

We settled at Arabiska, a Lebanese restaurant offering lots of authentic food. The mezzas (light food served before main courses) there are nice and affordable!

The soft drinks are DIRT CHEAP. 2.25 litres for 5 AED (≈ S$1.7). Singapore sells 1.5 litres for about $2.x!

Clockwise from top left: 500ml, 1 litre, 2.25 litres. Singapore only has 500ml and 1.5 litres packaging.

Really really enjoyed myself at Atlantis, and I would recommend anyone who travels to Dubai to have a taste of the awesome water park and the exotic dolphin experience. You won’t regret it!
